The Vishu Pongala at Kulathoor Phanamugham Devi Temple, Thiruvananthapuram is a sacred annual festival celebrated with deep devotion and traditional rituals. In the year 2026, the festival will be observed on 15.04.2026, bringing together thousands of devotees from different parts of Kerala. The day begins early in the morning with the auspicious Ganapathi Homam at 6:00 AM seeking blessings for a prosperous and obstacle-free celebration.

The highlight of the festival is the community Pongala at 10:00 AM where women devotees prepare offerings in earthen pots dedicated to the goddess. The entire temple surroundings become filled with devotion, chants and the aroma of sacred offerings. This ritual symbolizes purity, devotion and the divine presence of the goddess blessing her devotees.

After the rituals, at 12:00 Noon, the pooja concludes with Pongala Nivedyam which is offered to the deity. Following this, kanji distribution is arranged for all devotees, reflecting the temple’s spirit of sharing and hospitality.
