The Vishu Mahotsavam 2026 at the Sharngakkavu Devi Temple, Venmani in Alappuzha District, Kerala is a sacred and grand annual festival celebrated with deep devotion and traditional rituals. The festival will be held from April 14, 15, and 16, 2026 (Medam 1, 2, 3 – Malayalam New Year period). This auspicious occasion marks the beginning of the Malayalam New Year and is dedicated to the blessings of Goddess Sharngakkavilamma, the presiding deity of the temple.
The festival begins with special rituals such as Harinama Keerthanam and Bhagavatha Parayanam followed by cultural and devotional programs throughout the day. Devotees actively participate in offerings like Kavadiyattam, traditional poojas and various temple ceremonies organized under the guidance of the temple trust and protection committee.
One of the highlights of the celebration is the Sopanam Sangeetham by renowned artists, devotional bhajans and grand musical performances including stage shows and ganamela programs featuring popular playback singers and musicians. The festival also includes traditional art forms, cultural conferences and community gatherings that reflect the rich heritage of Kerala temple culture.
