The Ashtabandha Kalasha Mahotsavam at Arayakulangara Sree Durga Devi Temple, Haripad, Alappuzha, Kerala is a highly sacred and spiritually significant temple festival conducted as part of important tantric traditions. This divine event will be held for 3 days from May 06, 2026 to May 08, 2026 with deep devotion, rituals and traditional Vedic ceremonies.

The main purpose of the Ashtabandha Kalasha ritual is the renewal and strengthening of the divine energy of the deity installed in the temple. In this sacred process, a special mixture called “Ashtabandham,” prepared using eight powerful natural ingredients, is applied to the base of the deity’s idol. This helps to reinforce the consecration and maintain the spiritual power of the temple. Over time, this divine binding weakens naturally and the ritual is performed again to restore the sanctity and energy of the temple.

At Arayakulangara Sree Durga Devi Temple, the Mahotsavam is conducted with elaborate tantric poojas, homams, special offerings, and traditional rituals dedicated to Goddess Sree Durga Devi and Goddess Bhadrakali.
